This project explores softness, movement, and subtle play through a refined furniture form. Continuous curves, rounded transitions, and sculptural stretchers create a sense of flow while maintaining structural stability. The combination of regular and thermal wormy curly maple adds warmth, contrast, and depth, while details like the exposed lap joint button and patterned upholstery highlight craftsmanship and personality. The final stool balances creativity and refinement to create a piece that feels both inviting and sophisticated.

FURNITURE DESIGN

This section presents a complete set of orthographic drawings for the stool design, documenting both the wood and upholstery components in detail. The drawings include overall system dimensions, which are width, height, and depth, along with fully dimensioned end, top, bottom, side, front, and back views. An end-view section perspective highlights the floating mortise and tenon joinery, providing insight into the construction and craftsmanship of the piece.

The stool fabrication process began with tracing, routing, and cutting using the bandsaw and table saw. The joinery was carefully constructed with the table saw and router, followed by extensive sanding to prepare the surfaces for finishing. Upholstery was then added to complete the stool, enhancing both its functionality and overall appearance.

A final photoshoot documented the completed stools, highlighting the craftsmanship, material details, and overall finished design.
